Combat Veterans Sporting Adventures (CVSA) was started by Stephen Scarbrough and Nathan Maples in 2009 with the thought of taking a couple soldiers dove hunting. The dove hunt went so well that this year, 2010, we thought we could step it up a notch and coordinate a Whitetail Hunt in Wisconsin where there is a history of harvesting record breaking bucks. CVSA’s goal is to make it possible for soldiers who may not have the opportunity to go hunting because of money, schedules or disabilities to participate in the outdoor activities they love. The War in Iraq and Afghanistan has been going on for approximately 9 years now. There are lots of soldiers who need a break from combat. It takes a toll on soldiers who leave their families and friends for up to fifteen months at a time and are put in life threatening situations. Many of these soldiers have been deployed multiple times. For what we ask these brave men and women to do and the sacrifices that they have endured, CVSA believes it is our obligation to give back.
